Hi,
We are taking a tour of Japan (attending conference + holiday) for 9 days from 14 -22 June. 2 adults + 2 kids (12 years). We would be buying the 7-day JR pass online. And also a Nozomi day- pass separately.

This is our itinerary, please check and give us your feedback:

14/6/2015 Conference at Kobe
15/6 Morning Kobe. reach Osaka at night
16/6 Kyoto day tour
17/6 Hiroshima day tour
18/6 Osaka city tour
19/6 To Nagoya enroute Tokyo
20/6 Mt. Fuji day tour
21/6 Tokyo
22/6 Tokyo
23/6 early morning flight from Tokyo

It's a tightly packed schedule, and we plan to make the best use of the time exploring the wonderful country in our first visit. Our priority is important cultural and historic landmarks which will give us a feel of the culture-rich Japan.

Hi,
A 7 day pass used June 17-23 would serve your needs very well.

One day in Kyoto is certainly not enough but since you are pressed for time, the biggest 3 sights there are the Kinkakuji Temple, Kiyomizudera Temple and the Fushimi Inari Shrine. Fushimi is the most time consuming; you could spend a couple of hours to over half a day if you want to romp over all the trails. And the Otagi Nenbutsuji in Arashiyama is one of the most humorous and whimsical places you could visit in Japan - well worth visiting, even for kids.
You didn't say where you'd be going to see Mt. Fuji. Most people go either to Hakone or the Fuji 5 Lakes Area. There are day passes for both; you cannot go all the way there for either on a JR Pass.
You could spend a lot of time in Tokyo and still not see everything. But a few of the best places to see are the Tsukiji Fish Market, plus the site that every last tourist goes to see, the Sensoji Temple. If you are in Tokyo on a Sunday afternoon, be sure to go visit Harajuku to see the youth with their wild fashions. Meiji Shrine and Yoyogi Park are next to it and well worth seeing also. And be sure not to miss the Shibuya Hachiko intersection especially on a weekend when it looks like half the city is crossing the street at once.
For leaving Tokyo, if you are going to Narita, you can still use your pass for the Narita Express.

Good luck.

One June 19, you also might consider going to see Himeji in the morning for half a day; it has Japan's finest castle and has just been newly renovated.

Hello there,

To look at the best JR option, where will you arrive in Japan?

A 7 day JR Pass would work very if you cover visiting Hiroshima and travel to Tokyo with it.

I would also recommend visiting Miyajima with the JR Pass. It's Tori gate is one of the most iconic sights of Japan and not to be missed in any trip.

Is there any specfic part that you would like feedback on? So far I think it looks all good!
Daniel
