Hello,

I'm going to Japan in late November - early December (Green Class) and mainly staying in Kansai. Also its my first time using JR Pass. So i want to make sure and ask for several things before my trip.

  1. I can use the JR Pass for local trains/bus in Kansai as long as it is in JR Line, right? Is there any additional charge?

  2. I'm using green class, so i have to reserve my seat only when i'm using rapid trains/limited express/shinkansen, right?

  3. After arriving at KIX i have to transit in Shin-Osaka Station before continuing my journey to Ishikawa. Do i need to reserve my seat and buy the ticket "from KIX to Shin-Osaka and Shin-Osaka to Ishikawa" or is there another way?

  4. Can i use JR Pass on sightseeing trains? Such as Sagano Romantic Train and Hanayome Noren. Is there any additional charge?

  5. Can I order my train tickets all at once when I'm in Japan? Like its August 8 and I order my train tickets and reserve my seat on KIX Station for August 8 - 10

Hello there,

1.) Local JR Lines, and where available JR buses, are covered. Transport operated by other companies is not.

2.) Yes, all seats in Green Class are reserved.

3.) You don't have to for normal seats, but you can make seat reservations at the airport station for Green Class.

4.) Those operated by JR are free. Sagano Romantic Train is a private company / tourist attraction and not included but you may be able to get a discount by showing your pass. Hanayome Noren is a JR train and fully covered.

5.) Yes, best to bring a written list so the JR staff can do it quickly for you.
