Hi, I have seen that probably starting from october there will be an increase in the JR pass.

I have planned my trip for December 30th 2023 - January 6th 2024 so I was wondering if I could buy the pass with the current fare.
Reading https://www.jrpass.com/blog/pricing-and-perk-changes-to-the-japan-rail-pass it seemed yes to me but I was looking for a confirmation that my understanding is correct:
Buy the pass on Sept 30th (last available day to buy at current price) - activate the pass on Dec 30th (my first day in Japan) - 30 days available to use the ticket therefore I could use it until January 6th

Hi there,

This would work - in theory. Unfortunately, we may not be able to help you with this.

The post you refer to was updated earlier - with dates. As the last days of Sept are in the weekend, which means Friday the 29th is effectively the last day that we can issue passes under the old pricing. This, as order date, is not the same as the issue date.
