Hello, I have just been reading the forums and have one or twor questions:
1. do shinkansen trains run on new years eve and new years day? I plan to return to Tokyo from Kyoto on one of those days and hope that trains will be running (if they are, I do understand they will be busy).
2. can I use the JR pass for travel to and from Narita to Tokyo?
3. cani use it on the Yamanote line in Tokyo?

Hi there,
1.) Yes trains run as normal, they will be packed though :)
2.) Yes the Narita Express between Tokyo - Narita Airport is covered by the JR Pass!
3.) Yes the Yamanote line is covered. As well as all other JR lines in Tokyo.
