Please help with 8.5 days in Japan

Hi. We arrive to KIX 25 August and fly out KIX 3 September. We plan to mainly travel between Osaka and Tokyo. It would be great to only order a 7 day pass to cover our trip. I haven’t booked hotels yet so we can start either city first. Would you recommend starting out in Osaka then to Tokyo and back to Osaka to depart. Or explore toky first then finish with Osaka?
Please advise on modes of transportation and how to use a 7 day pass.
This is our first time so everything is completely new. Thank you and please let me know what other information would be helpful.

Hi there,

It does not really matter if you do Osaka or Tokyo first, unless there is a certain event that you'd want to attend.

Your JR Pass will cover travel between both cities and you can use the bullet train. For useful information on how to use the JR Pass, please have a look at our blog we have many tips and tricks on how to use the pass.

Thanks Daniel. If we start out in Osaka do you think we can wait a day or so to activate the pass? Meaning how would we travel for the first couple days around Osaka? Thanks!
