I'm arriving in Nagoya at around 8:30 pm and plans to go straight to Tokyo but i'm worried that i won't be able to catch the last train to depart Nagoya. Should I spend the night in Nagoya instead and take the train early in the morning the next day?
Where in Nagoya is the train station going to Tokyo? How long is the travel time? Should I reserve a seat or I can just hop in and take an available seat?

Honestly I don't think that you'll make it in time to Nagoya station in order to catch one of the last trains departing to Tokyo. The last departs at 22:10 and takes about 100 minutes to Tokyo.
Assuming you'll arrive at Chubu Centrair airport, it will take at least 90 minutes at the very minimum to clear customs and travel to Nagoya station, where the Shinkansen to Tokyo depart from. Instead it would be much saver to stay the night in Nagoya and travel on the following morning.
I'd advise taking a reserved seat but you can make seat reservations even 15min in advance.
