Hi.
We are going up into the alps on the 19th October. We have a J.R. pass until the 22nd October then another from the 26th October. We have a car hire but are just wondering if we will need the car for this part of the trip. Will the J.R. pass cover the travel up there on the days we have it. And is there a regional pass that will cover the other days?
Itinerary is
19th October shingu to nakatsugawa
21st October nakatsugawa to takayama
23rd October takayama to hirayu onsen bus stop
25th October hirayu onsen bus stop to yamanouchi
26th October yamanouchi to Tokyo
