Hi

Starting September I will be living in Omachi, Nagano.
Besides Nagano prefecture, I also plan to visit Aichi, Toyama, Ishikawa, and Fukui.
I will be staying for 2 months, so it's enough time.

My question is: How useful will the JR Pass be in the Chubu region?
What are the best ways to get around in Chubu (to the prefectures mentioned above)?

I have searched around the internet and noticed many private lines.
I'm considering buying the JR Pass, but the length would depend on its usefulness.

Hi there,

The JR Pass will pretty much cover travel to all those places.

We have a great interactive map you can use to check all lines that are included in the JR Pass.

It's hard to say for sure without knowing your full itinerary, however the JR Pass certainly could offer you good value and great flexibility.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Would it be possible to have the Pass shipped to a residential address in Nagano, and exchange the Pass in Shinano Omachi station?

Hi again!

We could ship it to a residential address in Nagano. However the JR Pass can't be exchanged at Shinano Omachi. You'd have to travel to a station where the JR Pass can be exchanged 1st, such as Nagano, Toyama or Nagoya.
