I'm planning to visit Osaka, from Tokyo, for 9 days and wanted to get your advises on whether it's worth it for me to purchase a 7 day JR Pass. The thing most concerning is my return back to Tokyo is on the 9th day, looks like I'll need to buy a 1 way ticket back to Tokyo from Osaka.
My itinerary:
Day 1 - Tokyo --> Osaka
Day 2 - Osaka
Day 3 - Nara day trip
Day 4 - Kobe day trip
Day 5 - Kyoto
Day 6 - Kyoto
Day 7 - Osaka
Day 8 - Osaka
Day 9 - Osaka --> Tokyo

A 7 day JR Pass would be worth it if you would make the return Tokyo - Osaka with it. As it stands now, there's more than 7 days in between. I would either look at changing your plan to return in Tokyo by day 7 and use a JR Pass or just buy tickets as you travel.
