The Area Pass will cover the Shinkansen between Osaka and Hiroshima, but will not cover travel to the Hiroshima Airport, if you are referring to the (HIJ) Airport. More info on the pass can be found here, showing a detailed map of the major train lines/stations covered by the pass.

Thanks you Alexis. Could you please confirm:
- the best way to travel from Hiroshima to Kyoto using the JR Area Pass? Does the Shinkansen go all the way to Kyoto, or would we catch it to Osaka and then change to a different train to continue on to Kyoto? - the best way to travel from Kyoto to Tokyo? Can we use the same JR pass? - if we have a JR Area pass, do we still need to pay another fee to reserve a seat from Hiroshima to Kyoto? Thank you.
