Hi, we will be travelling from Tokyo to Kanazawa on 16th May then Kanazawa to Takyama on 19th May, from there to Kyoto on 21st May and then to Hiroshima on 25th May, then back to Tokyo on 26th May. My question is how early do I need to book my rail tickets? The Jr pass is not economically feasible as the individual fares are quite a bit less than the 14 day pass. At the same time dont want to book and then find I have to change the dates, any help appreciated!

Hi there,
Normal tickets can be purchased starting 30 days before travel. Trains however rarely sell out, so most people only buy a few days before travel.
