Hokkaido is a wonderful place to visit & the JR Pass will give you fantastic value getting there.

Depending on whether you plan to use the passes consecutively or not, it may be more cost-efficient to just use a 14-day JR Pass (¥47,250), instead of a 7-day JR Pass (¥29,650) + 7-day Hokkaido Rail Pass (¥25,000) = (¥54,650).

The JR Pass covers all of Hokkaido!

Thank you Daniel. Is it worth buying the green class card for Ueno to Hakodate then travel only in Hokkaido?

Personally, I think the Hayabusa train is one of the best Green Class cars in Japan. Most Ltd. Express trains in Hokkaido have Green cars so, so it may be worth it!
