Tokyo-Mt Fuji -Osaka

I am traveling to Japan in a couple weeks, and finalising my itinerary. On the 10th of November I am leaving Tokyo for Osaka, and wondering if there is a way to go via Mt Fuji on the way. Original plan was JR Pass Shinkansen between Tokyo-Osaka. I can't check in until 2pm at least anyway, and happy to be much later, so thought I could leave Tokyo early and make a day of it as I have limited time to see everything. Will be traveling with a couple bags, so also wondering if there is somewhere to leave/store them?

Or is it too much to try and fit into a one day?

Thanks.

Hi there,

It depends what your goal is at Mt Fuji. For instance, there are several places where you can enjoy viewing Mt. Fuji. Think of Hakone, Gotemba or Shizuoka. However it would not be practical to get close to the mountain, such as Kawaguchiko and travel on from there to Osaka on the same day.

Every station has coin lockers, so no need to worry about your luggage.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Yes somewhere to stop for an hour or two, enjoy the sights, take some photos and eat/grab a drink would be ideal.

I will have a look at Hakone, Gotemba and Shizuoka.

Is there one that is easier to do from Shinjuku on the way to Osaka? ( I can easily head back to Tokyo if that is easier than from Shinjuku).

Thanks,

Ryan

Hi again,

In that case, I think that Hakone would be the easiest option. Go down to the central like, shoot some good shots, enjoy a drink and hop back on the train.

If you want to do a day trip from Shinjuku, then Kawaguchiko is a great option.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thanks Daniel,

I had a look at all that you mentioned, and thought the same that Hakone would be the best option and easily enough there to enjoy a few hours.

Looking at Hyperdia to work out the travel aspect, should I be looking at HAKONE-ITABASHI or HAKONE-YUMOTO.

Thanks again,

Ryan
