my wife and I do some short notice travelling throughout Japan.
We have some questions.
First we will arrive in Japan on Saturday evening.
Is it possible to get a JR Pass after eight on a Saturday and can we even book it that fast?
Our Itinary is
Sa, May 23 Narita - Tokyo
Su, May 24 Tokyo - Kamikochi
Tu, May 26 Takayama - Fuji
Th, May 28 Fuji - Tokyo
Sa, May 30 Tokyo - Narita
and probably some trains within Tokyo.

Hello Jo,
We have to send the JR Pass by express post to you. This means it takes a couple of days. See http://www.jrpass.com/delivery for delivery times.
The JR Pass will give you good value by traveling to Takayama. What I do want to point out is that it is not easy to travel to Fuji from Takayama. Have you decided yet where around Fuji you wish to visit?
Lastly, Kamikochi also requires the use of a non JR Bus from Matsumoto.
