Odawara to Kyoto

Hello,
I am traveling from Odawara Station to Kyoto Station on May 22nd around 11:00am. According to the SmartEx app- all the trains leaving around this time have transfers- whether in Nagoya or Shizuoka). Are there any trains that go directly to Kyoto without transfers? When I search on Google maps, it shows that the trains go to Kyoto station directly. What am I missing?

Hi there,

Google Maps is not a good resource for planning your Shinkansen trips, as it usually does not show the Hikari and Kodama trains. We have a good write down for it here How to plan for the JR Pass.

There are indeed a few direct trains a day between Odawara and Kyoto. Although, a transfer at Nagoya is also fast and easy.
