JR Pass suggestions needed

Hi there,

I think just a 14 day JR Pass is the best option. I don't think that a mix of two passes would give you a much better rate and most JR West passes, like Hiroshima-Osaka area pass do not include seat reservations. This is one of the best features of the JR Pass.

Area passes will also have limitations where you can go, while the JR Pass will take you anywhere.

Would you recommend that we get the Nimoca/Suica/Pasmo/ card for local trains and buses?
And, not sure if its within your scope, but if I get the Nimoca from Fukuoka, I will be able to use this in Osaka/Kyoto/Tokyo as well?

Also an additional question: Where can I view the schedule of trains? Specifically schedule of trips from Fukuoka to Tokyo/Kawaguchi. Thanks!

The IC cards in usable all over Japan, you will be able to use your Nimoca pretty much anywhere.

For train schedules, I recommend learning to plan with Hyperdia.
