Is JR Pass suitable for my journey?

Hi, I am planning a family trip to Japan on 3rd week of December 2023 from Malaysia. My intention was to either fly from Kuala Lumpur to Osaka on 17th December 2023 and fly out from Sapporo on 27th December 2023 or the other way round which is flying to Sapporo then flying out from Osaka on the same dates. What would the suitable rail passes for my trip if I wish to visits Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo (maybe) and Hokkaido? Price of passes and duration to travels between the places?
