As the Aomori Shinkansen passes through some of the worst affected areas of North East Japan, we certainly expect travellers to experience disruptions for the foreseeable future.

You can keep up to date on the progress of JR-East trains by looking at their site here, or by following our JR status updates on twitter, facebook and in our forum.

Please note that JR-East's website is very overloaded right now as people search for train information for their day, so you may have to wait a couple of hours for access to their site to be returned to normal.
