I am looking for a convenient mode of transfer to go:
1) from Shinjuku to Nagoya (one way) on October
2) from Nagoya to Hiroshima (return as well as this will be a day tour only)
3) from Nagoya back to Narita (passing thru Takayama and if possible also Nagano) (do not require a stopover just for the scenic view at the least) (need to be at Narita for the hotel booking same day).

For this I'm looking if buying a JR Pass outside Japan is a better option than buying it inside Japan and I'm transferring in separate days and JR Pass is available for 7days, etc.. is it possible to buy in Japan for only the trips mentioned above?

*I have 4 days stay in Nagoya and plans to visit Kyoto and Osaka.

I appreciate if somebody can advice/share information.

Thank you.

Hi there,

The Shinkansen bullet trains can take you to Nagoya, Hirohsima and back to Narita Airport (with a stop over at Tokyo station).

Please note that the JR Pass is only available outside of Japan, you can place an order online here.

I also recommend learning to plan with Hyperdia. This way you can find any route required yourself.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thank you Daniel san. Thanks for the Hyperdia link.

As it looks like Im going to buy a SUICA side by side with the JR Pass, I'm weighing my options between 7days or 14 days JR Pass. Im short of maybe 6hours on the 7-day validity as it will be expired by the time I will travel from Nagoya back to Tokyo. I dont really want to spend for the 14-day if it's not practical as my itinerary does not cover the entire Japan (the farthest I have to the west is hiroshima and to the East is Nikko). But Im considering it for convenience.
Also, would you recommend I use the luggage delivery service at the Airport or would it be easy to roll my large luggage with me riding the NEX train to Sunroute hotel (Shinjuku)?

Thanks so much!

Hello again,

Is it possible to change your plans to include all I mentioned before? If not, then my best advice would be to use budget travel to go to Nikko. Think of a Tobu Nikko Pass and use the JR Pass once you make your first Shinkansen trip.

Luggage forwarding is great but the Narita express is equipped with special suitcase compartments.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
