Hi there,

The JR Pass covers the main metro line in Tokyo - the JR Yamamoto line, which loops around central Tokyo. The other lines are privately owned, but can easily be accessed with a prepaid travel card such as a SUICA or PASMO card. The remaining credits can be spent at gas stations, coffee shops or the airport, so there's no need to worry about anything going to waste.
