Doing day trips from osaka

Hi there,

Travel within the Kansai Area (Osaka,Kyoto, Nara and Kobe) is low cost and in general I recommend buying normal tickets for this itinerary.

As for places to stay, I'd stay near Osaka station as it provides direct train connections to all of the above places. This area is also known as Umeda. Osaka station itself is also very accessible.

So I should not be buying any JR Rail Travel tickets? Just buy the normal tickets day to day when I need?
May I ask when does the first train from Umeda station start and the last train end at Umeda.
Just worried that I won't be able to catch a train from Kansai airport to Umeda station as my flight touches down only around 10pm.

Would you also be able to advise some itinerary for Kyoto, Nara and Kobe or is there a tourist information counter at Umeda station that I can ask when I am there?

Hi there,

Yes for this I would advise normal tickets and purchase them on the day of travel.

Arrival late at Kansai is a known problem as the last train depart at 23:09. It may better to stay the first night in a hotel near Kansai Airport and travel on the following morning.

There is an English speaking tourist information at kansai airport and also at Osaka airport.
