Trip to Japan

Hi Daniel-San.

We plan to buy a 14-Day JR Pass. Our itinerary in Japan is as follows:
Day 1: Overnight at Narita Airport.
Day 2: Narita to Fukuoka.
Day 3 - 5: Day trips around Kyushu - Nagasaki, Ibusuki, Miyazaki, Beppu & Oita.
Day 6 - 8: Fukuoka to Kyoto. Visit surrounding areas.
Day 9 - 10: Kyoto to Takayama. Day trip to Toyama & Shirakawago.
Day 11 - 12: Takayama - Kawaguchiko.
Day 13 - 14: Kawaguchiko to Tokyo. Use metro / bus to go about.
Day 15: Tokyo to Narita.
Day 16: Fly back home.

Questions:
1. Is the 14-Day pass suitable?
2. We plan to activate the pass on Day 1 evening maybe around 19:00. When will the 14-day pass expire? Based on day or time based?
