You will want to take the Shinkansen from Odawara station (Hakone).

The last train connection leaves Odawara at 20:36.

I was hoping to take the Romance Car back into Shinjuku and then go to the shinkansen. Are you saying we should forget the Romance Car then, and just get to Odawara?? And then is it easier to take the shinkansen from Odawara to Kyoto?

If I take Romance Car to Hakone area and then how do I get to Odawara and is this included in the Hakone/Fuji free pass that I plan on buying?

And what time is the latest time for the shinakansen from Tokyo to Kyoto if we decide to take the romance car back to Shinjuku? I know we have to go from Shinjuku to the shinkansen station which is also how long?

Sorry I read it the other way around. The last possible connection leaves Shinjuku at 19:41.

On some of the examples, like the one from Odawara to Kyoto at 2036 hours shows a Nozomi line in there. Are JR Pass holders allowed to be on Nozomi?

Also on the timetables, when I see a box with a N and a 700 in the box (I see it multiple times usually on the last stop). What does that mean?

Hi,
JR Pass holders cannot take the Nozomi train.
You can go to Hyperdia and just plug in your starting point and end point, plus date/time that you like. But be sure under "More Options" to deselect "Nozomi..." since you can't ride that on the Pass.

The N700 is just the type of train that is being used. It is quite comfortable and you will enjoy the ride.
