I was just about to purchase the pass but though I should check to make sure I could get from Osaka to Hakuba using the JR rail pass. I'm having trouble tracking down what trains I would need to catch and the transfers I would need to make?
Is the this possible with the JR pass?

Hi there,
Yes - the JR Pass covers the full route Osaka - Hakuba. However it is not the easiest route to travel.
Here is an example itinerary. Note that while you see many trains after Matsumoto, this is just one train traveling different lines, so you can just stay on board.
