One thing I want to ask, why don't you give the voucher online which the buyer can print at his end anyway one has to exchange it in Japan for the original ticket.

This is just the way JR wants the system set-up.

An online (e-ticket) would be really handy, I agree.

Part of the reason is that this way JR can verify that you are a foreign visitor.
