Itinerary Check - Website info is unclear

Hi,
we (2 adults, 2 kids ages 13 and 10) are arriving Feb 1. We plan to go:

Arrival Kansai Feb 1

Kansai Airport to Kyoto (spend 3 days) on Feb 1
Kyoto to Myokokogen: Feb 4
Myokokogen to Kansai Airport: Feb 9

Departure from Kansai Feb 10

The itinerary check seemed to indicate that we should "add money to save" on a JR pass. that did not make sense to me.

I am wondering if it is better to book a JR pass for the Kyoto - Myoko kogen - Kansai leg, since that will be within 7 days.

I believe that a 14 day pass which could include kansai airport - kyoto transfer and then around kyoto would not be worth the extra cost.

What do you recommend?
