Dear Daniel-san,

I am planing my trip as following, but i am afraid of shinkansen stops and timetable as well as the travelling time between citys.

  1. I will stay in tokyo for 2 nights
  2. Take shinkansen from tokyo to Shin-Fuji and stay 1 night
  3. Take shinkansen from Shin-Fuji to Shin-Osaka and stay the rest 3 nights
  4. Between Osaka and Kyoto, i will also take shinkansen from ShinOsaka to Kyoto Sation and back to ShinOsaka at night (it take 15min travelling time, doesnt it? ) since i could not find any room available at Kyoto within my budget, that's why i stay at hotel in Osaka.
  5. Depart at Osaka airport after 3 nights stay in Osaka

Does it sound a good choice of travelling?
Please kindly advise me, Daniel-san!
Thanks a lot !

Dear Phuong,

Welcome to the forum :)

Your route a pretty straight forward one and looks well doable. Local travel from Shin-Osaka to Kyoto is indeed only 15minutes by with the Shinkansen. However I would also consider using local trains such as the Kyoto line to Kyoto, as these only take ¥540 fare and reach Kyoto in 29 minutes. It's a good way to save some money on travel.

As for Shin-Fuji? What do you plan to do there? The station is in the middle of an industrial complex and there's not much to do except for a couple of buses that run toward Mount Fuji. A better stop would be one of the neighboring stations such as Mishima or Atami.

Hope this helps!
Daniel

Dear Daniel-san,

Thanks for your kind response.

I thought take shinkansen from Tokyo to Mt. Fuji by the stop at Shin-Fuji is correct, isnt it? Pls kindly advise me the best way to go with my JRPASS.

I want to stay one night at one hotel around the Lake to have sunrise view of Mt. Fuji, how do you think? Pls advise me if this is not a good choice.

By the way, i am from HoChiMinh city (Vietnam), if i order JRPass from this website, how much for shipment of the ticket and how long does it take, please?

Best Regards
Phuong

Dear Phuong,

Shin-Fuji is not the Shinkansen stop for Fuji. This is something that causes confusion for more people. Shin-Fuji station is actually very boring and no other trains stop there except for the Shinkansen. A better option is to visit Hakone not too far from Shin-Fuji and enjoy the view from there. The Shinkansen station for Hakone is Odawara station.

For shipping, Vietnam takes 2 business days and €14.00/$19.00 or equivalent in your own currency. This is a one time charge, no matter how many passes you order. Details can be found here.

Best Wishes!
Daniel
