jr pass or Hokkaido pass?

The difference in price in buying a 7 day Hokkaido Pass 22,630yen + Narita Express ticket 3,000yen vs the 7 day JR Pass 29,110 is not that big. The 1st option is slightly cheaper though. So unless you plan to do a lot of travel in Tokyo, I would advise going with that option.

Thanks, can you please tell me that how much will be from sapporo city to Akan lake? Is the trip sll coverd by JR pass? Also how much from sapporo to kushiro? What else is the must when i visit sapporo? Thank you for your time!

The JR Pass and JR Hokkaido pass cover all JR lines in Hokkaido. Akan lake is reached from Kushiro (not covered by the JR Pass). All the details are here.

Thank you so much. Due to this trip is for sakura, i changed the whole trip as follows: 4/8 3 pm NRT, active JR pass and towards hotel around ueno park. Some suggestions for the night time sakura and day time sakura around tokyo area. I don't mind tske JR all the way to south for day trip. So i have 4/8 afternoon, night plus 4/9 whole day. Then 4/10 catch 7:15am flight to sapporo. Another question here, i remember JR will take almist one hour from tokyo station to NRT, my flight is 7:15am, i need to leave hotel around 4:30am. What is the earliest JR train starting? If not that early, i need to change my hotel to NRT area on 4/9 night. Arrive sapporo around 8:30am, take jr direct yo kushiro, stay there two nights for lake akan and that area, them from 4/12 to 4/14 back to sapporo hotel and visit that area, any suggestions for visiting sapporo? 4/15 early flight back to NRT and back to JFK. Please anything good to eat and must see in those areas? Thank you so much!
