Hi, I’d like to check if you would recommend getting JR pass (7days) or Sanyosanin area pass + All kyushu pass? I was advised to take jr pass as it would be cheaper. Any downside that I should consider?

1- hiroshima to hakata
2- hakata (hakata, tenjin, nakasu, momochi, dazaifu)
3- hakata
4- hakata to kagoshima
5- kagoshima (day trip to ibusuki using scenic train)
6- kagoshima to hiroshima
7- hiroshima (miyajima)
8- possible day trip out of hiroshima (maybe osaka)
9- fly out hiroshima

Hi there,

Just to be sure and I give the right advise, are points 1-9 days that you are in Japan or trips that you will make?

There's generally speaking no downside of getting the JR Pass over regional passes. The best use of a pass would also depend on point 8, as a day trip to Osaka would cost a lot without a JR Pass.

Hi again,

In that case a 7-day JR Pass is a safe bet for day 1 to day 7, I just would drop the day trip to Osaka as it would cost about 21.000yen RT. There are plenty of places closely worth visiting, like Onomichi, Iwakuni and Miyajima.
