My husband and I are going to Japan in March and I'm wondering if we should buy JR passes (14 days)
Day 1-5 Tokyo
Day 5 Travel Tokyo to Kyoto
Days 5-6 Kyoto
Day 7 Kyoto to Osaka (1/2 day) and then Osaka to Hiroshima
Day 8 Hiroshima to Fukuoka
(4 train rides in total)

I made a little overview of costs without the JR-Pass to see if it is worth it.
Tokyo --> Kyoto ¥ 13,420
Kyoto --> Osaka ¥ 540
Osaka --> Hiroshima ¥ 10,150
Hiroshima --> Fukuoka (Hakata station) ¥ 8,900
For a total of 33010. While it would not be worth getting a 14 Day Pass for this a 7 day JR Pass would be perfect.
You could use it for all your long distance travel and a day or two in Tokyo for local travel on JR lines too!
A 7 day JR Pass is 28,300 so you would save at least ¥ 4710.
