Hi,

I will travel to Japan in April and the itinerary is below:
Day 1 -Arrive Kansei airport and travel to Kyoto by train Day 2- 4 Kyoto -travel around Kyoto city Day 5 -Kyoto to Hakone Day 6 Hakone - travel around the area Day 7 Hakone -Tokyo Day 8-10 Tokyo - travel around Tokyo city
Day 11-Depart from Narita Airport

Should I buy 7 days JR Pass on the above travel itinerary? Do I need to buy the Hakone free pass as well?

Hi there,

For this trip it will be cheaper to buy normal tickets. A JR Pass would have been a good option if you made a return Tokyo - Kyoto.

For Hakone, the Hakone Free Pass can be a great option if you plan to explore the full Hakone region but it will depend on what exactly you'll do there.
