We will be visiting Japan in July this year and will spend the first week in Okinawa. I wanted some insight into the loose itinerary we created, is it reasonable? Anything that could make it flow smoother? Any suggestions for alternatives? We are open to suggestions, there is still time and room for change. Also we are wondering if a 7 day rail pass would save us money based on what we have so far? Our plan after the islands is as follows:
July 9th-Fly to Tokyo, stay near Disney
July 10th-Expolre around Tokyo, same Disney hotel
July 11th-Visit Disney Sea, same Disney hotel
July 12th -Move to Kyoto region, stay the night here
July 13th-Kyoto region, sty the night
July 14th-Kyoto region, stay the night
July 15th-Kyoto region in the morning then move to Mt Fuji area, staying the night in that area
July 16th-Visit the waterfalls near Mt Fuji
July 17th-Make our way back towards Narita, stay the night near the airport
July 18th-Head for home
Thank you in advance! This is our first trip and we are pretty overwhelmed already but it seems it gets easier the more we look into it.
Rail Pass Save?
Hi there,
I would recommend using a 7 day JR Pass for July 11th to July 17th. This way you can cover the most and make nice savings compared to purchasing normal rail tickets.
Do note that you will still need additional transport for local travel in Kyoto and around Fuji.
In Kyoto you can buy a 500yen bus ticket which is great exploring the city.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
Thank you! Is there a pass that will save for travel within Tokyo itself for the 9th and 10th? I read about an IC card? Would that be useful for any of this trip? I just realized if I swap things around a tad and visit Disney on the 10th and explore Tokyo the 11th then I may get more use out of the JRPass so I may do that but crowd predictions are lower for the 11th.
