I am travelling around Japan for 3 weeks and am not sure what pass /passes are most cost effective. Any advice most welcome:

Hi there,
You will be zipping around quite a lot, I think looking at a 21-day JR Pass would be the best option. You can cover travel to most places you want to visit. There are a couple exceptions like the bus to Shirakawa-go and last part to Mt. Koya.
