I really miss Japan and would like to know when will Japan reopen for foreign tourists? Has there been any news yet when the country will open.

Hi there,

When Japan will open is hard to say exactly, the current lockdown is until May 6th. You can find the original announcement here. Though it is likely to be extended until the situation is under control, even then protection measures will remain in place for a long time. I suggest keeping an eye out on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan website for updates.

In the meantime, you can visit Japan virtually here and see the 20 most beautiful spots.

Finally, read When will international travel to Japan resume? for the latest updates on travel in Japan.

Kind regards,
Daniel
