Please advise using JR time to get from Tokyo to Asahikawa and how to pre book in dec dates leaving 24/12/13 and returning1/01/14. Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Ingle,
Do you mean Asahikawa in Hokkaido? If so, the trip by rail will take a whopping 684mins (11.5hrs). I recommend flying to Sapporo (New Chitose) from a Tokyo airport rather than taking the train for this large trip, unless you are thinking of splitting your journey in two.
