Hi, I would like to know if I could purchase a 14 day pass and split it up? So I could use it the first and third week of my four week vacation. Would that be possible?

The Japan Rail Pass can only be used for consecutive days of travel. Unfortunately you cannot break up use of a 14 day pass. A lot of people buy two 7 day passes for this sort of split travelling, and it still works out cheaper than buying tickets individually in Japan.
