I am traveling with 5 friends from Hiroshima via Kobe Osaka Kyoto then Tokyo will it be cheaper and /or more convenient using the 7 day pass

It would depend on how many days you spend in each city and whether you'd do any additional travel.
You can use the JR Pass Fare Calculator to find an approximate ticket cost of a single route or even your full itinerary.
