I will be arriving at Kansai Airport on Monday 26th November and departing Kansai on Wednesday 5th December 2012. That will be 10 days in Kansai. Upon arrival I will go directly to Kyoto for the full period wher I will do local travel and sightseeing in Kyoto are, including one night/two days at Mt. Hiei. Would you please advise which would be the best tickets to purchase for my 10 day visit which will give me travel from Kansai to Kyoto Station return, and train and bus travel whilst in Kyoto for the ten days, thank you in anticipation, Barrie.

Hi Barrie,
For a trip such as you list there is no perfect single pass choice, however you should investigate the following options:
- Surutto Kansai Pass - covers all train, bus and subways (excl. JR) for the Kansai area including travel from Kansai Airport.
- Kyoto city municipal passes - Kyoto city offers a good range of bus and subway passes for use on its internal municipal lines.
- Occasional JR tickets as needed (for example if you travel from Kyoto to Nara)

Thank you Mari, not as easy as I thought, I will buy Haruku return ticket and both Surutto and Kyoto City tickets, that way I'm covered and no worry about purchasing tickets each time I catch a bus or train, thanks again, Barrie from Australia.
