I am interested in buying a Hiroshima- Yamaguchi area pass to start on 3 May. I will be in Okinawa end Aprli but not reach mainland Japan before 1 May. I am worried that Hakata- Hiroshima shinkansen will be fully booked during Golden week. Is there any way to reserve train using a Rail Pass before receiving it in Japan?

Hi there,
You won't be able to make reservations before activating your JR Pass I'm afraid - If you purchase one early and exchange it and set the activation date for later, you can begin making reservations from then which will let you make reservations a few days in advance.
