I want to travel from takamatsu to Tanabe (kiitanabe) on Wednesday - why does Hyperdia keep sending me back to Hiroshima instead of via kojima and Okayama? I might decide not to go all the way to Tanabe and instead go to Osaka but there the same thing counts. Why does Hyperdia keep sending me to Hiroshima instead of via Okayama? Google maps says I can do this in 2.5 hrs while Hyperdia says it's almost 4.

Hi there,
I am not sure why this is. Do you have an example route(link) from Hyperdia? This way I could better tell track down the reason. I would exect the route to go via Okayama then Shin-Osaka and not Hiroshima.
Looking at this route, I do not see Hiroshima. Link to Hyperdia.

Thank you for looking that up! It was the wrong Tanabe you searched for , sorry for the confusion. I need to go to KiiTanabe.
I have now checked the Hyperdia app again and it is no longer giving me the strange option. I am now trying to make up my mind whether to go from Uno or from Takamatsu to Tanabe: I will want to visit Naoshima and am staying the
Night before in Takamatsu.i don't know how much time I will take on the island and whether it is better to just go back and forth to Takamatsu or whether to go from Talamatsu to Naoshima and then to Uno. I assume the ferry times that I found here http://benesse-artsite.jp/en/access/ are reliable?

KiiTanaba, should not be a lot different.
The difference between Uno and Takamatsu is that Uno is faster to reach but Takamatsu itself is way more interesting and a good place to stay for the night. You also get the travel over the Seto Ohashi bridge, which has a wonderful view on Shikoku and the coastline.
I think the ferry times are correct but you may want to double check and ask the site owner.
