My partner and I will betraveling in Japan from May 19th - June 3rd and cannot figure out the difference between these 2 ticket options:

and
"National Pass" https://www.jrpass.com/regional-passes/national#regional_pass_type
Also, are local metro, busses etc. included in the JP rail pass or are regional passed needed in addition?
We have a rough plan to travel as follows:
Late arrival in Tokyo on May 19th
Osaka on May 20th - 26th (incl. Nara & Koyosan)
May 26 Kyoto
May 28th or 29th back to Tokyo with a pitstop during the day in Kanazawa
We appreciate some clarification and welcome any tips and suggestions.
