JR pass Questions

Hi there,

1.) The JR Pass can be used to travel into Tokyo, however Asakusa does not have a JR Station. The best way using the JR pass is to take the Narita Express to Ueno station and use the subway from there.

2.) The 1st day of use is counted as a full day, so the pass will expire at midnight on the 31st.

Im arriving on Dec 25 at 4 PM to Narita. Can I catch the Shinkansen to Fukuyama Station the same night? Does it run 24 hours a day?

Sorry, and 1 more question. Can i get from the airport to Fukuyaa using the JR pass?

The JR Pass does not run after midnight and starts again the following morning.

The last train to Fukuyama departs from Narita at 17:15 see this route.

So you may want to stay somewhere at the route, for instance Tokyo and travel on the following morning.

I will take your advice and stay on that route. I'd prefer to stay in Yokohama after my arrival to Narita. dont know how long it will take to clear customs.

Getting to Yokohama should be fine the arriving at 4:00 pm then right? If Im understanding Hyperdia right, the schedule shows quite a few trips after 6 PM. Could you confirm Daniel-san?

Also my travels are from Dec 25th to Jan 1, is it hard to get seats on the Shinkansen during those times?, should I get the green pass instead?

Customs can be cleared within 40min, sometimes it does take longer if there are long queues.

I do think it is smart to stay in Yokohama, this way you are sure to arrive in time at your accommodation, even in case of delays.

There are plenty of seats on the Shinkansen and I don't think you will need a Green Class, having said that, it can be nice to travel in more comfort using a Green Class ticket.
