Still confuse about passes

Hi & good morning,

I've been reading lots of info on all kind of passes but still confuse. Can you recommend which passes will be most appropriate for our trip. We will be traveling in early December (10D 9N) & hoping to do our research earlier.

Day 1 - Reach Kansai International Airport early morning ~ transfer straight to Kyoto
Day 2 - Kyoto
Day 3 - Kyoto
Day 4 - Transfer to Takayama for overnight/ sightseeing
Day 5 - Proceed to Shirakawa for overnight/ sightseeing
Day 6 - Transfer to Osaka
Day 7 - Osaka/ Nara
Day 8 - Osaka
Day 9 - Osaka
Day 10 - Osaka ~ Kansai International Airport for night flight home

We proceed to Kyoto upon arrival in Japan in hoping that we still get to see remaining foliage & will be staying 3 nights.
For Day 4, we'll be taking train to Kanazawa, then proceed by bus to Takayama. Is this route the best in traveling to Takayama from Kyoto?
For Day 6, from Shirakawa by bus back to Takayama, then by train back to Osaka via Nagoya. We won't be visiting Nagoya, but it is possible or recommendable to just proceed to Nara and overnight at Nara instead of taking day trip from Osaka?

Hi there,

1.) I was looking at options but can not really find any pass that suits your itinerary. My advice would be to buy normal tickets as you travel.

2.) The train is faster going via Nagoya but may cost more.

3.) Either going to Nara or making a day trip to Nara from Osaka are viable options. There's really not that much difference.

Thank you for your reply.

I've been doing some research again and found out about this : Takayama-Hokuriku Area Pass. Would this pass worth it? By looking at the info and map, I think we can squeeze in an overnight in Gero or Gifu after departing from Shirakawa before going back to Osaka. Which of the two would you recommend we visit?
