Hi! I've been to Japan multiple times and have always purchased a JR pass. I see the increase in prices and of course am asking myself, is it worth buying?. Here is my itinerary . Also, I know there are two Shinkansens not included in the JR pass, Can you reserve with an additional charge?
Tokyo - 2 nights
Tokyo - Kyoto
Kyoto - Osaka - Round trip
Kyoto to Hiroshima - Round trip
Kyoto to Tokyo
Hi there,
The main question here is your timing. If you do Tokyo - Kyoto - Osaka - Hiroshima - Tokyo within 7-days, then the pass is 100% worth it. If you need longer, then normal tickets between Tokyo - Kyoto, plus a Kansai - Hiroshima Area Pass would be the best match.
The JR Pass does cover all Shinkansen routes for this trip. The Kansai - Hiroshima Pass covers the Shinkansen between Shin-Osaka and Hiroshima stations.
