What is the quickest and most cost effective way to travel between Narita airport to Kyoto and Osaka, in either order, and back to Narita for departure to the US?

Hi there,
It depends on how many days in between, a 7 day JR Pass would be the most cost effective option for rail travel if you make the return within 7 days.
