Can I activate my rail pass for a day prior to the effective date that I ordered the pass for?
For example, I ordered my pass with a planned effective date of 03-25-12 however realize I will need to have it activated for 03-22-12 onward.

Hi Smitty,

Yes - you are totally free to start your Japan Rail Pass validity any time up to 3 months from the date of purchase. We ask for the planned date when you place your order to ensure that you will be able to use your pass once you receive it.

You will be fine to use your pass from the dates you specify.
