If I collect the JR pass on the first day of my holiday at the airport, can I select an activation date that is 3 days later? will the pass activate automatically on that date or will I have to go to a JR office again? also can I reserve seats on a train before when I collect the pass in the airport, even though the pass hasnt activated yet?

Hi there,
You can select your own starting date up to 30 days from the day that you exchange the JR Pass. In other words, you do not have to start using it right away.
You can also make seat reservations from the day of exchange.
