hi, for our coming trip to Japan, we are confuse whether or not to buy the JR rail pass, below are our itineraries;

-Kansai international airport to Osaka city -osaka to Universal Studio -osaka to shirakawago through Kanazawa -kanazawa to kyoto -kyoto to Tokyo via shinkansen -and other small trips within the cities -Tokyo to Haneda airport

is it worthwhile for us to get the JR pass or should we just buy single tickets for each trips?
we are also planning to get the Osaka day-pass for trips to the tourist spots....

Hi there,

For this itinerary the different is small but it would be cheaper to just buy normal tickets for traveling. A JR Pass would have been very useful if you returned to Osaka after Tokyo or made a side trip to Hiroshima.

is it true that return trip to Kanazawa will costs us about USD150 per person? if so maybe it will cheaper to take the JR pass? tq again

Hi again,

It is about 6-7,000yen for one way, or double for the return. That plus a one way Kyoto -Tokyo is about the same price as a normal JR Pass, it could be a bit more or less.

If you do additional travel with it, then it could be useful!

i just checked with hyperdia apparently there will only be shinkansen hikari on the date for my trip kyoto-tokyo.....the tokkaido shinkansen is not available everyday? but i can still use the JR pass on the hikari? thanks again

I am not sure where you looked but Shinkansen, including the Hikari run every day and at least every 30 minutes.
