Kyoto - Narita

Hi, we will be staying in Kyoto but flying out from Narita. The plane leaves at 11 am - would you suggest we book a hotel for the night in Tokyo instead of staying our last night in Kyoto? I am wondering how long time in advance you suggest we leave from Kyoto, using JR Pass.

Hi Ann,

Definitely, there's simply not enough time to get from Kyoto to Narita airport with a 11am flight.

Its about 4-5 hours of train travel and keeping in mind that the first train departs around 6am, you'd arrive just in time to see your flight take off.

I would recommend booking an accommodation in Tokyo or even in Narita to travel on the following day. Even from Tokyo, it takes about 1 hour to reach Narita Airport.
