Can't work out if JR Pass is best option for our trip based on ease of travel and cost - can you advise?
26 Dec tokyo (shinjuku) to kyoto
28 Dec kyoto to hiroshima
29 Dec hiroshima to osaka
2 Dec osaka to hakone / mt fuji area
3 Dec hakone to tokyo
Plus is it that much of a noticeable difference taking a trip on the nozomi bullet train?

Hi there,
A 14 day JR Pass will give yougood savings on this trip, compared to buying normal tickets. You can use the JR Pass Fare Calculator to find an approximate ticket cost of a single route or even your full itinerary.
On the difference between the Nozomi and Hikari trains, the main difference is that the Hikari makes more stops along the route. For instance, on the route Tokyo - Kyoto, the difference in travel time is 19 minutes because of this.
